If you would like to participate in the Genki Cosplay Show, then read the rules thoroughly and fill out the application form before the deadline.
There are a limited number of spots for the show, so send in your application as soon as possible! An announcement will be made when all spots have been filled; additional applicants will be put on a waiting list.

PERFORMANCE
General
- Participants are not accepted until their script (and possibly audio file) has been received and approved by the cosplay team. The participant(s) will be notified by email of their status.
- Participants may not reuse an act already performed at a previous national or international competition. If it is discovered that an act is reused, it will lead to immediate disqualification.
- The maximum number of participants are 20 groups. A waiting list will be created if all 20 spots have been filled, where it will be possible for potential groups to take over a spot, if a group drops out.
- Fluids, live fire, chemicals, and explosives, are not allowed on stage.
- All elements used have to be removable from the stage. This applies especially to confetti, glitter and other things, that have to be swept up. If you bring things that need to be swept up (confetti, glitter, etc.) please contact the Cosplay team in advance.
Specifically for groups
- Groups may contain up to 5 members.
- If a larger group is required, please contact the cosplay team for permission.
- A performance may not be longer than 3 minutes (180 seconds).
- Larger groups (5+) are allowed to have a maximum of 5 minutes, but are required to ask for permission first.
Specifically for soloists
- A performance may not be longer than 2 minutes (120 seconds).
AUDIO
- While we recommend that groups record their audio beforehand, we offer microphones and headsets, if you wish to do a live performance. If you require microphones, please specify how many you need in your application.
- All recorded audio must be in .mp3 format and must be submitted as a single file in the application. Once submitted, it cannot be changed, so please make sure you got it right.
SCRIPT
- All groups have to submit a script in their application, in order to receive a spot in the Cosplay Show.
- All scripts have to contain second counts.
VIDEOS
- It is possible for both groups and soloists to send in videos to be played during the performance. Note that this is not mandatory.
- The duration of the video must not make the group/soloist exceed the maximum amount of time they have on stage, i.e. 3 minutes for groups and 2 minutes for soloists.
- Videos must be sent in .mov or .mp4 to be played. We will only accept one video per group/soloist.
COSTUMES AND PROPS
General
- It is allowed to participate with both bought and self-made costumes.
- It is allowed for members of the same group to cosplay from different series.
- Reference pictures showing as much of the character being cosplayed must be attached with the application to the show.
- As we have younger people in the crowd, we ask our participants to choose their costumes with care. If you are in doubt about where the limit is in relation to showing skin and more, please contact the cosplay team via the contact form.
- If you use props, please be aware that the prop has to be moveable so that it can easily be put on and taken off stage.
- It is not possible to plug in appliances on stage. Props using power have to be battery driven.
Costume rules
- Participants are allowed to participate in official designs of characters from anime, manga, video games, comics, TV series, movies or cartoons. This includes artbooks and more.
- Participants are in principle not allowed to participate in a self-designed or fan-art inspired costume. If you wish to participate in a self-design, please contact the Cosplay team who will consider if the design can be allowed.
- Participants are not allowed to participate in costumes previously worn in award winning performances at other national and international competitions. If it is discovered that award winning costumes are being reused, it will lead to immediate disqualification.
Props
- The Danish weapon law is applicable at all times.
- Props brought onto the stage may not be made of metal.
- Props brought onto the stage may not be sharp or be a danger to others.
- Props brought onto the stage may not be longer than 3 meters. If the prop is longer than the specified, please contact the Cosplay team for approval.
- Props may not weigh more than about 10 kg.
CLARA COW’S COSPLAY CUP
- By participation in the Genki Cosplay Show, it is possible to participate for the Clara Cow’s Cosplay Cup (CCCC) selection.
- CCCC is a competition for 2-man groups and takes place at AnimeCon in Netherlands each summer.
- Participants in the CCCC qualification must have a Danish citizenship.
- Participants have to be at least 18 years old by the time CCCC takes place.
- Participants for the CCCC qualifiers must consist of a 2-person group.
- The costumes for both the CCCC qualifications and the finals must be self-made.
- CCCC is judged 60% on the performance and 40% on craft – to better assess the craftsmanship, all CCCC contestant must appear at a pre-judging in their cosplay.
- It is also required to send in 2-6 Work-In-Progress (WIP) photos of the cosplay being made.
- The WIP photos are not required to sign up for the competition – they just need to be sent in at least 1 month before Genki.

- Only one group will be chosen to represent Denmark at CCCC.
International Cosplay League
- By participation in the Genki Cosplay Show, it is possible to participate for International Cosplay League (ICL) selection.
- ICL is a competition for 2-man groups and takes place at Japan Weekend Madrid in Spain each fall.
- Participants in the ICL qualification must have a Danish citizenship.
- Participants have to be at least 18 years old by the time ICL takes place.
- Participants for the ICL qualifiers must consist of a 2-person group and the characters must be from the same series.
- The costumes for both the ICL qualifications and the finals must be self-made.
- ICL is judged 60% on the performance and 40% on craft – to better assess the craftsmanship, all ICL contestant must appear at a pre-judging in their cosplay.
- It is also required to send in 2-6 Work-In-Progress (WIP) photos of the cosplay being made.
- The WIP photos are not required to sign up for the competition – they just need to be sent in at least 1 month before Genki.

- Only one group will be chosen to represent Denmark at ICL.
- Because the ICL finals are only 2 months after Genki, it is permitted to re-use a majority of the act at the finals.
OTHER
- Participants are not required to have a Danish citizenship or permanent residency in Denmark in order to participate in the Cosplay Show, unless they are participating in the CCCC or ICL qualifications.
- Participants under the age of 18 must have written consent by a parent or legal guardian, which can be done via email.
- All participants are required to have at least one member of the group present during the briefing on Friday at Genki, or they will be disqualified.
